Chequamegon Children's Theater

Welcome to the Chequamegon Children's Theater Website

In 1986, while Jeanne Larson, Cable, was driving back from the Twin Cities with her 13-year old daughter, Jamila and her friend, Eliza Wright, the girls lamented about city kids having so many opportunities. "It's not fair!" They'd just seen a performance of the Children's Theater Company of Minneapolis. After the show, the cast invited those interested in auditioning for future productions to come on stage. The girls were ready to sign up, momentarily forgetting that they lived 4 hours away. On the long drive home, Jeanne suggested they start up a children's theater in their own community. But first they needed a director. She remembered there was an actress in California, Rosina Reynolds, who lived in the Cable area during the summer managing a resort with her husband. Would she be willing to direct? With much planning, their dream turned into reality. The next summer 29 children performed "Pinocchio" at the Cable School. That was just the beginning! The Chequamegon Children's Theater was established in 1987 and was incorperated as non-profit in 1997. This makes all donations tax deductible.
